In December, global markets experienced increased volatility as the US Federal Reserve (Fed) reduced its expectations for further rate cuts in 2025 and raised its inflation forecasts. As a result, the MSCI ACWI index (a global equity index that measures the equity performance in both the developed and emerging markets) declined, with global shares struggling due to a rise in bond yields.
